The World Academy of Sport (WAoS) delivers learning programmes for sports and event participants - athletes, managers, administrators, officials and coaches - through a series of tailored educational programmes.
BWF Programme Lead Programme
Introduction

The BWF strategic Plan prioritises learning and training opportunities for BWF and Member Association staff and volunteers in the areas of governance, management, leadership and sport promotion.

This programme is part of an educational pathway designed by the World Academy of Sport to train people to lead programmes in their own countries.

Benefits of attending

Programme Leads will be assessed as to their competence by World Academy of Sport Trainers during the training and all will receive a certificate of competence from the World Academy of Sport.

World Academy of Sport Trainers will give the BWF feedback at the end of the training on each individual, so that they may determine whether to support these individuals to run programmes in their own countries.

At the end of the training Programme Leads should be able to;

·        Undertake a needs analysis of their National Federation (using an agreed template)

·        Design ‘needs driven’ sessions

·        Facilitate (non-lecture) sessions

·        Explain key knowledge topics

Who should attend?

By recruiting and training talented individuals from within the Continental Confederations to lead these programmes, the aim is to ensure programmes are pitched at the right level and delivered in the most engaging and impactful way.

Programme Leads will use World Academy of Sport techniques, to create an interactive learning environment and to motivate participants completing the course to implement the knowledge they acquire.

We have selected prospective Programme Leads to attend the training with the following attributes:

o   Knowledge, skills and experience of building organisational capacity through good governance, strategic planning and stakeholder engagement

o   Have appropriate knowledge of athlete development, including sports administration and athlete pathway models

o   Demonstrate good presentation and interpersonal skills

o   Have experience of presenting to groups

o   Be open-minded, adaptable to change, willing to self-reflect

o   Adopt an interactive and motivational rather than a lecturing approach

o   Have a genuine interest in sharing and imparting knowledge and developing Badminton from the national level upwards

o   Have a good knowledge of and relationship with different Member Associations in their Region
